About Me

Paul

I’ve been officiating football for nineteen years, working my way up from youth leagues to now calling games at both the high school and college levels. What started as a way to stay connected to the game I loved as a player has become a true passion—there’s nothing quite like being in the middle of the action, making split-second decisions that can change the outcome of a game. I’m well-versed in both NFHS rules for high school games and NCAA regulations for college ball, and I take pride in staying current with rule changes and interpretations each season. The transition between rule sets keeps me sharp, whether I’m working a Friday night lights atmosphere with passionate hometown crowds or officiating college games with higher-stakes intensity. Over the years, I’ve learned that good officiating isn’t just about knowing the rulebook inside and out—it’s about game management, clear communication with coaches and players, and maintaining composure under pressure. Some of my most rewarding moments have been mentoring newer officials and watching young athletes compete at their highest level, knowing that fair and consistent fficiating helps them showcase their talents. The physical and mental demands of the job keep me in shape and constantly learning, and after nearly two decades, I still get excited putting on the stripes each fall..

Six years ago, I transitioned into officiating under NCAA rules, bringing my deep understanding of the game to ensure fair play and maintain the integrity that makes football special. This unique perspective of having been on both sidelines and now in the zebra stripes has given me an unparalleled appreciation for the complexities of the sport. Whether I was drawing up plays in the locker room or making split-second calls on the field, my passion for football and commitment to excellence has remained constant.
